We had the pleasure of sitting down with Nikita, a birth and postpartum doula from Yoga Mamas. She takes a holistic and natural approach to birth work, and creates a safe space for you to explore your journey into parenthood. While under Nikita's care, you'll not only learn all about baby care but also gain valuable insights into postpartum healing and how to set yourself up for a successful life after your little one arrives. She's skilled in hypnotherapy and offers some fantastic services like belly binding to help you along your parenthood journey. Continue reading to get to know Nikita and hear about her tips for parents. What drew you to doula work? Doula work is my service to society and women. It has allowed me to grow as a person and in understanding that we need community to thrive through birth and postpartum. That's such a heartfelt answer. But if you weren't a doula, what would you do? I would be in events, making ideas come to life. How creative! What is your favourite birth book and your favourite postpartum book? My favourite birth book is "Reclaiming Childbirth As A Rite Of Passage" by Rachel Reed, and "The First 40 Days" for postpartum. Now onto the fun stuff! What's your favourite postpartum snack? Dates with peanut butter, covered in chocolate. Sounds delicious. What does your perfect off-call day look like? I wake up late, have a great breakfast, work out, run errands, and make a delicious dinner with my hubby. Very relaxing. What is one thing you'd like all expectant parents to know? That you're doing amazing and you're not supposed to know everything all at once. Enjoy the small moments with your baby and don't ever think you're spoiling them by holding them and giving them the love they so seek from you. Lastly, what's one fun/unexpected fact about you? I love to try new things, for my 29th birthday, I went skydiving and will most likely go again! If Nikita sounds like the kind of doula you'd love to connect with, fill out our contact form here.
