During these visits, you will receive 1 hour of acupuncture and 2 additional hours of doula care. The role of a doula is to support the parents. This can look like caring for the baby so you are able to rest, cooking, lactation/ feeding support and more. In this appointment, our certified and experienced doula and acupuncturist will help care for your baby while you enjoy your acupuncture treatment. All postpartum doula and acupuncture visits include a complimentary 30 min virtual consultation so you can get to know your provider. |

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy Home Visits
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a specialized area of physiotherapy that deals with treating muscles of the pelvic floor. This involves assessment/treatment of the muscles with internal vaginal and/or rectal palpation. A specially trained pelvic floor physiotherapist can work with you to prepare the pelvic floor for labour and delivery and also to rehabilitate these muscles following birth. Note that an internal exam is not conducted during home visits. |

We firmly believe in the power of play to facilitate learning, allowing your child to have a great time while developing new skills and addressing any areas that require attention. General physiotherapy helps to promote your overall health and rehabilitate muscles and bones in the body that have been suffered from injury or trauma. This includes sprains, strains, the rehabilitation of fractures, inflammation of tendons, arthritis, osteoporosis, scoliosis, repetitive injuries and post surgery conditions. April Kowaleski, R.Ac
April is a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO). She started her journey in health care 35 years ago as a pharmacy technician at the Hospital for Sick Children. When she started having children of her own, her focused changed to natural health and she became a holistic nutritionist. After having children, April fell in love with the birth process and turned her focus to working as a birth and postpartum doula, supporting families through this wonderful but sometimes challenging stage of life. She worked as a doula for 15 years, and at this point, decided to study Acupuncture. She had witnessed many times the power of Acupressure points during labour and decided to make this medicine the next step in her journey in health care. April uses her experience and education to help people move through the many stages of life. She can treat both mental and physical aliments to help create balance and good health in the body. |
Nadia Bellio, LC
Nadia is a highly experienced Lactation Consultant and Certified Breastfeeding Specialist with over 20 years of experience in providing lactation support. She started her career as a doula and midwife apprentice in Peru and Argentina and later completed the Ryerson Midwifery Education Program in Toronto in 2006. Nadia worked as a Registered Midwife in Ontario from 2007 until 2023, helping hundreds of families with comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care. In addition, she has taught prenatal and HypnoBirthing classes. With her extensive experience, Nadia is adept at providing anticipatory guidance to expectant parents as they prepare to feed their baby, and she can help families transition to successful breast or chestfeeding. Her expertise lies in supporting families through challenges such as difficult or painful latching, low milk supply, excessive weight loss, and slow weight gain. Having successfully breastfed her own child well into the toddler years, Nadia can provide support and guidance with feeding issues through the toddler stage, as well as through new pregnancies and tandem nursing a new baby and toddler. Nadia approaches her work with kindness, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude, and she is passionate about supporting families from all backgrounds. Whether you need prenatal lactation planning consults or postpartum lactation support visits, Nadia is available to help you and your family through every step of the lactation journey. Registered Physiotherapist– Pelvic Health, Women’s Health, Pediatric Care Maja Degen is a dedicated physiotherapist specializing in pelvic health and pediatric care. With a passion for empowering her patients, Maja brings extensive knowledge and experience to her practice, addressing pelvic floor dysfunction, pain and developmental issues. Maja's educational background includes undergraduate degrees in Kinesiology (HBScKin) from McMaster University, followed by a Master's Degree in Physiotherapy (MScPT) from the University of Toronto. Maja has pursued advanced practice courses in pelvic health and pediatric physiotherapy. Her treatment approach incorporates soft tissue work, manual therapy, fascial release, scar release, and personalized exercise prescription to meet the specific needs of each patient.
