Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Manual lymphatic drainage massage (LDM) is an extremely soothing and gentle form of self care. The lymphatic drainage massages at Yoga Mamas can be enjoyed to optimize health in general, and we also provide a specialized focus in the areas of pregnancy and postpartum.
In pregnancy and postpartum, fluid retention can cause swollen legs, ankles, feet, face, and hands. Edema can cause the skin to feel tight and the joints to feel stiff, as well as putting pressure on nerves resulting in carpal tunnel syndrome. In the summer, many people in general tend to retain more water and experience swelling, tightness in the skin and stiffness and discomfort in the joints.
LDM uses soft massage techniques to move fluid from the tissues to the lymph nodes, which eases swelling and relieves discomfort, all while providing a relaxing treatment. All treatments are 60 mins and are performed by experienced Registered Massage Therapist, Elizabeth Stewart. |
