Lactation consulting can help you navigate your feeding journey with baby, and help you plan ahead of your baby's arrival, which is why we offer both prenatal and postnatal lactation consulting appointments.

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (I.B.C.L.C) has passed a fully accredited, rigorous 4-hour examination set by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). Prerequisites for the board examination include thousands of hours of clinical work and dozens of educational credits in Anatomy & Physiology, Cultural Diversity, Psychology & Counselling, Child Development, Nutrition, among others. The IBLCE certification is recognized as the Gold Standard for health professionals working with breastfeeding women, and all I.B.C.L.C.s are required to adhere to IBLCE’s Professional Standards.

Sara Tomenson, Certified Breastfeeding Specialist
Sara is a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, and Qualifying IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). Additionally she has received training in Advanced Lactation Consulting, Low Milk Supply Specialization, Oral Motor Skills, and Flange Fitting for Pumping. She has completed an abundance of clinical hours under the guidance of Paola Vallarino (IBCLC). She has been working closely with families and young children for 16 years and is passionate about supporting and helping families achieve their feeding goals. Whether you are seeking breastfeeding support, guidance on pumping, or assistance in overcoming lactation challenges, her expertise and experience allows her to deliver amazing care and support, ensuring that you and your baby receive the highest level of attention and care. Sara offers in clinic, at home and online appointments. |
Gillian Hay, IBCLC, RN
Gillian is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a Registered Nurse. With over 1500 hours of clinical breastfeeding experience, she is here to help you reach your feeding goals and can provide lactation support online, in person, and in the comfort of your own home. Gillian completed her Bachelor’s of Nursing at Queen’s University and has a wealth of knowledge of breastfeeding and the postpartum journey through her experience as a Registered Nurse on the mother-baby ward. Gillian has over 200 hours of breastfeeding education and became a certified Lactation Consultant to provide hands-on, knowledge-based, calming guidance through her practice. She is passionate about creating a relaxing, comfortable environment for you and your newborn to assist you in your breastfeeding journey and creating a feeding plan that feels best for you. Using a nurturing, holistic approach she provides her expertise in a non-judgmental way and can assist you through many challenges from poor latching, low milk supply, engorgement, weaning, and more. She is a compassionate, patient, kind person who is eager to help you and your baby have the best possible experience in your feeding journey. |
Taya Griffin, IBCLC
Taya is a breastfeeding mother with over 1,000 hours of clinical experience helping mamas to reach their breastfeeding goals.
In 2007, she graduated from the Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine with a Professional Diploma in Health Sciences and Homeopathic Medicine. From here, she practiced as a Homeopathic Practitioner with a special interest in pregnancy, pediatrics and women’s conditions.
In 2011, she graduated from the International Breastfeeding Centre/ Newman Breastfeeding Clinic’s Lactation Medicine Program and In 2014 became an Internationally Certified Board Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In 2019 she attended the IBCLC Master Class in New York learning additional techniques on how to help breastfeeding mothers and their babies.
She teaches a "Breastfeeding Essential for Doulas and Health Care Practitioners" at our clinic and has educated high level executives with a desire to understand more about breastfeeding and how to support breastfeeding mothers. She also teaches yoga and pilates to a variety of prenatal and postpartum clients.

She has an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from York University, completed the Breastfeeding program at Mohawk College and has over 500 hours of clinical experience under the guidance of Paola Vallarino (IBCLC). She has received extensive training in identifying tethered oral tissues (tongue and lip ties), clinical management of low milk supply and other feeding challenges.
She is dedicated to helping families achieve their feeding goals, whatever they may be. Every baby and family is unique and Deena is passionate about providing holistic and non-judgemental support to anyone in need.

Nadia Bellio, IBCLC
Nadia is a Certified International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with 20 years of experience providing lactation support. Nadia initially trained as a doula and midwife apprentice in Peru and Argentina, before completing the Ryerson Midwifery Education Program in Toronto in 2006. She worked as a Registered Midwife in Ontario from 2007 to 2023, providing comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care to hundreds of families. She has also taught prenatal and HypnoBirthing classes. Nadia has extensive experience providing anticipatory guidance to pregnant people as they prepare for feeding their baby, and seeing them through the transition to successfully breast or chestfeeding. Nadia specializes in supporting families through difficult or painful latch, low milk supply, excessive weight loss and/or slow weight gain. Having successfully breastfed her own child well through the toddler years, Nadia can also provide support and guidance with feeding issues through the toddler stage, through a new pregnancy and tandem nursing a new baby and toddler. She brings a kind, compassionate and non-judgemental approach to the care she provides, as well as a strong desire to support families from all backgrounds and all configurations. She looks forward to getting to know you and your family during this uniquely special time in your life. She is available for prenatal lactation planning consults and postpartum lactation support visits at any time through the lactation journey. Nadia offers in clinic, at home and online consultations. |
