"Very friendly staff and a relaxed comfortable atmosphere. Even though I had never done yoga before I never felt intimidated during the classes. Meg was excellent at explaining poses and suggesting alternate poses for whatever state my body was at.

I met our birth doula, Jamie Kalynuik, in my 2nd trimester, and I was quite nervous about the delivery side of things. She focused on us the entire time as we navigated through the many decisions we had to make relating to delivery and baby. She was our constant the entire 24 hours I was in labour at the hospital. She helped us create a birth plan, and be vocal about this. Jamie went over the choices and decisions we would have in advance, this was very helpful. During labour she helped keep me present emotionally. There were times it would have been easy for me to give up, and she was an incredible support for me especially then.
I also prepared for my delivery through prenatal yoga at Toronto Yoga Mamas. These yoga classes helped me mentally prepare and focus for the labour and delivery. I loved those sessions, and the environment was extremely warm and welcoming. Prenatal yoga became a highlight of the weeks leading up to my birth.
My birthing experience was enriched because of Jamie, and my husband also says she was a real asset to our birth team!

"Toronto Yoga Mamas' studio was the perfect place for our daughter's 2nd birthday party! The studio room was spacious and bright for all our 50+ guests. We were easily able to transform it into an Alice and Wonderland theme party for our daughter. We received tons of compliments on how beautiful the venue was. The Toronto Yoga Mamas staff really helped in making the day run smoothly, from helping to set up/clean up, all the equipment they provided us with (especially the toys, it was a great hit), and greeting our guests as they came in! I hired Jamie as my doula for the birth of my second child to try a different experience, to have a strong support person by my side (and to support my squeamish husband). Throughout my pregnancy and birth, Jamie was a supportive figure. She helped me sort out my intended birth plan, and offered comfort when unexpected pain made an appearance during my epidural-assisted delivery.

I started practicing prenatal yoga with Jamie when I turned 12 weeks pregnant and now that I am 1 day before my due date I know that my weekly practice has helped me have a fantastic, calm and active pregnancy.
In fact, coming to the practice with Jamie has been a highlight of my week, something just for me to look forward to every Saturday morning. I'd like to think my baby senses when we are doing yoga, he calms down and that helps me to relax, turn off the week and start my weekend.

Jamie was absolutely amazing! Taking her prenatal yoga classes made me feel much closer to her than just two prenatal doula visits would have, it was such a great benefit.
When I was put on bed rest at 35 weeks, Jamie was so supportive and encouraging, she checked in with me regularly by text and email and was really flexible about doing our visits at home.
When I called her at 3am to tell her I was in labour, she answered the phone right away and was so encouraging! At the hospital, she was amazing! She thought of lots of little things to make me comfortable that we never would have thought of. She helped my husband and my mom to support me more effectively and was so supportive with every decision we made throughout the entire process. Jamie was absolutely wonderful! ~ Meaghan Grant
