Taking place from Wednesday, July 27th - Wednesday August 17th 2016, at Toronto Yoga Mamas, in Leslieville, Toronto, the Infant Massage 4 Week Workshop offers parents infant massage training techniques to promote wellness and connection between you and your baby.
Course outline: First Class: Strokes for the legs; Discuss newborn reflexes including crying Second Class: Strokes for the arms, chest and face; Discuss the science of bonding Third Class: Strokes for the tummy and the gas and colic routine; Discuss theories on colic and solutions Fourth Class: Strokes for the back, full-body routine and gentle exercises/games for baby; Discuss how to keep the connection as they grow Benefits for baby • Promote longer and deeper sleeping patterns • Relieve symptoms of "colic" or gassy periods • Improve cardiac and respiratory output • Help baby develop sense of self Benefits for parents/caregivers • Enhance and facilitate parent/child relationships • Increase confidence and sensitivity as you learn to read and respond to your babies' cues • Provide special, focused time together • Decrease stress International Association of Infant Massage The curriculum you will be taught has been developed by Vimala McClure at the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM). The IAIM has been teaching instructors and parents the art of infant massage since the early 1980's. The program is based on a wonderful combination of Swedish and Indian Massage techniques, simple yoga and basic reflexology.
