This lamaze program is for doulas, public health nurses, current childbirth educators and all those who want to become Certified Lamaze Childbirth Educators. In this workshop you will learn how to teach FUN and Dynamic classes. Find meaningful ways to engage, educate and support pregnant families in your community. Attending this workshop fulfills one of the requirements towards becoming a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. Join us to gain new skills and strategies to update your current classes or conduct more engaging prenatal visits. What is Lamaze? Lamaze classes prepare women for a safe, healthy birth by providing the most current, evidence-based information about birth to help women gain confidence and navigate the world of fertility. What are the Benefits of Lamaze? Lamaze helps mamas seeking a natural childbirth education to manage pain without drug intervention. It also equips parents with stress management tools and knowledge about the childbirth process and what to expect. Course prerequisites: There are no pre-requisites for this workshop, however, a background in childbirth education/experience in birth/birth doula training/nursing is helpful. The purpose of this workshop is to prepare YOU for HOW to best teach the content covered in a typical prenatal class/series to your potential learners in a fun, dynamic way with an emphasis on experiential learning. Toronto Yoga Mamas is so excited to announce our PostPartum Doula Training Course happening this summer from July 17th - July 19th, 2015.
This is the only DONA approved Postpartum Doula workshop happening in Ontario in 2015. The workshop will sell out so please register early to avoid disappointment. Trena Slaunwhite Gallant is a DONA certified Birth and Postpartum Doula Trainer and will be leading the postpartum doula course at Toronto Yoga Mamas. Trena is also a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, Hypnobirthing Practitioner, and Infant Massage Instructor. This workshop will teach you the skills necessary to support families during the first three months as they ease into their new roles as new parents. At the completion of the workshop, you will receive a Postpartum Doula Certificate and leave with the education and confidence needed to begin working with families as a Postpartum Doula. Toronto Yoga Mamas has partnered with Stefanie Antunes from Discover Birth to offer another DONA-approved birth doula training workshop in Toronto from September 05-07, 2014. Anyone who has a willingness to help women through birth can become a birth doula. Though it’s helpful, it’s not necessary to have a background in health or medicine. Keep in mind that a doula is a non-medical professional.
